Atsufumi overcomes Anjan Viplav

INDORE, JUNE 5 . Atsufumi Yoshikawa of Japan overcame the big serving Anjan Viplav 6-7 (8-1), 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in the first qualifying round of the ITF Satellite tennis tournament at the Indore Club courts here on Saturday.

Among other foreign entrants in the qulaifying event, Pakistanis Jaleel Khan and Shahzad Khan won their matches in contrasting styles. The two, however, will meet each other in the next round. The third Pakistani, Aqueel Khan has been given a wild card into the main draw, along with Shreyanch Sacheti, Rishi Sridhar and Saurabh Kohli.

The prominent professionals on the Indian tour in the past, Prahlad Srinath and Vasudeva Reddy, who are more busy as coaches these days, also figured in the qualifying draw. Srinath won his match againt Shivang Mishra and would have met his friend Vasudeva Reddy in the second round but for the later going down tamely against Anand Kumar.
