HYDERABAD, JUNE 5. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has a lot to cheer about. A spurt in domestic tourism with more people bent on taking a break from stressful urban life and evolution of better packages that do not pinch the pocket, have left the tourism sector in high spirits. The latest success story of APTDC is its new improvised South India tour which starts on the first and 15th of every month. The new package introduced from April has been evoking very good response, according to APTDC sources. The state-of-the-art Volvo climatiser coaches with more leg space, air-conditioned accommodation at all night halts in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and local sightseeing taken care of, the two-week package tour, has apparently found favour with tourists. Priced at Rs. 10,000 per adult and Rs. 8,000 per child, the package is available throughout the year, they said. The package tour starts from Hyderabad and covers Bangalore, Mysore, Sravanabelagola, Halebid, Belur, Dharmasthala, Mangalore, Guruvayur, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Suchindram, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Rameswaram, Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Pondicherry, Mahabalipuram, Chennai, Tiruttani and Tirupati and will return to Hyderabad. The APTDC is also extending its network of central reservation offices. Apart from CROs at Tank Bund near Punnami restaurant and Yatri Nivas, on SP Road, it recently opened two reservation offices at Mehdipatnam, Kukatpally and one more near Babukhan Estate would be ready in a week's time. Two more CROs would be set up at Dilsukhnagar and Tarnaka. Another is planned at BHEL. "The idea is to reach out to people in different areas of the city to facilitate easy bookings for tickets, accommodation, etc," the sources said. The APTDC would also upgrade the connectivity of its offices throughout the State via satellite technology for a better bandwidth in another 15 days, they added.
