Political impasse has ended: Deve Gowda
By Our Staff Correspondent
HASSAN,
JUNE 5.
The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) President, H.D. Deve Gowda today said that with the swearing in of 10 Ministers from the Congress and the JD(S), the political impasse had come to an end.
Mr. Deve Gowda, visited Halebid today to participate in a function organised by Pushpagiri Samsthanam.
Defending the party's decision to support the Congress in forming a coalition Government in the State, he said that the fractured mandate had forced the JD(S) to strike a post-poll alliance with the Congress to keep the "communal" BJP out of power.
He also said the political impasse would have resulted in promulgation of President rule, followed by another election. As the people did not want another election, the JD(S) decided to support the Congress.
