CHITRADURGA, JUNE 5. The Chitradurga City Municipal Council has now decided to implement a resolution that was passed in 2003. The resolution pertained to making it mandatory to obtain trade licence for any commercial activity in the city limits. Permission from the CMC is essential to start any business. Somehow officials of the CMC had not collected the licence fee from shops for 2003-04. Now, notices are being issued asking shop-keepers to pay immediately a lump sum of Rs. 600 as tax per shop and this includes the fee of last year. The notice warned traders of severe action if the tax was not paid within three days of its receipt. Many traders are sore over the decision of the CMC.
