NEW DELHI, JUNE 5. Four persons allegedly owing allegiance to the dreaded gangster, Krishan Pahelwan, who were threatening a doctor in connection with a dispute over monitory transactions between him and some Haryana businessmen, were arrested by the Special Cell from Dwarka in South-West Delhi this Friday. An English revolver, a pistol, two country-made firearms and live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Acting on a tip-off that some members of the Krishan Pahelwan gang, who had been threatening one Dr. Samunder Singh of Nangloi at the instance of some Haryana businessmen, would come to Dwarka, a Special Cell team laid a trap and intercepted them in a park. The accused opened fire at the police upon which they fired in retaliation and overpowered the four of them. They were identified as Narender, Jagpal, Bijender and Sanjay. During interrogation, they disclosed that they were Krishan's musclemen and had come to Dwarka to eliminate a woman named Promila. They are involved in several cases of murder, attempt- to-murder and extortion. According to the police, Narender revealed that after doing his XIth he joined the Army in 1995. Later, he joined Krishan's "akhara" at Bahadurgarh to become a wrestler but ended up working as his muscleman. While he was on leave in 1998, Narender and his accomplices shot down one Rupinder of Sampla over a land dispute. He was arrested in the case but released on bail, after which he joined duty. In 1999, he again returned on leave and was arrested along with his accomplices by the Jind police on charges of committing a dacoity. His accomplice, Jagpal, was also into wrestling in the Bhoom Pahelwan's "akhara" at Rohtak. He came across Narender and was inducted into the gang. He disclosed that he was involved in at least three cases of murder, one of extortion and a case under the Excise Act. The accused disclosed that Bijender had offered to them four acres of land for eliminating Promila.
