`Reduce drainage maintenance charges'

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, JUNE 5. The United Forum of Nanganallur Welfare Associations has appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene and help reduce the monthly maintenance charges for underground drainage payable by each resident.

In a statement, the residents said the charges for the newly-constructed underground drainage system should be brought down from Rs. 150 to Rs. 50, as being levied by Metrowater in the city limits.

It has already represented the issue to the Municipal Administration and the Water Supply Secretary, L.N. Vijayaraghavan, in March and was awaiting a response.

The forum thanked the Chief Minister for cancelling the `H' seal on ration cards and reducing electricity tariff.
