Tiruchi June 5. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 36 degree Celsius and a minimum of 25.7 degree Celsius.

Eight held

for murder

Eight persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ochappan, a rowdy element, at Perur near Jeeyapuram recently.

A special team nabbed Arasu (27), Chandru, Mahamuni (27), Ravi (26), Periyasamy (28), Sahadevan (25), Dharmaraj (25) and Masi (28) last night.

The police said Arasu and three other accused were held near the Samayapuram Toll Gate, while the rest were caught near Somarasampettai, on information given by Arasu and his associates. One more accused was still at large.

The police said the murder was a fallout of rivalry between Ochappan and the Arasu group.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 36.55 feet today.

The inflow was 3,064 cusecs, and the discharge 148 cusecs.
