BANGALORE, JUNE 5. The Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), G. Madhavan Nair, said today that the "India-U.S. conference on space science applications, and commerce and exhibition" to be held from June 21 to 25 here would make efforts to explore new avenues and areas of mutual cooperation in the space sector. Addressing presspersons here after inaugurating a seminar organised by the Environment Association of Bangalore, Dr. Nair said the objective of the conference was to strengthen and expand cooperation. Many senior scientists and executives from the U.S. space agencies, such as NASA and NOAA, industries, educational institutions, and the State Department, would interact with their Indian counterparts. Referring to Edusat (education satellite), he said the pilot projects related to it had been launched in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh. A full-scale satellite connecting the entire country would be launched in August.
