KOCHI, JUNE 5. The All-Kerala Public Health Nurses Association, representing field workers in the Health Department, has accused the senior officials of harassing the juniors. At a press conference here today, the association general secretary, K.G. Susamma, and the working president, O.C. Mary, said the Health Department officials mistreated the association office-bearers recently when they approached the senior officials to enquire about a complaint received from two public health nurses working at Pizhala in Ernakulam. The association representatives said the junior public health nurses were engaged in preventive schemes of the public healthcare delivery system. They alleged that the funds allocated for various health schemes were not reaching the lower level where it needed to be distributed. The promotion avenues available to the nurses were also being denied on various grounds, according to them.
