Fishermen take out march

KOCHI JUNE 5. The Kerala Swatantra Matsyathozhilali Federation today organised a march in the city demanding immediate steps to control sea erosion. Fishermen who participated in the march urged the Government to take steps to strengthen the sea wall to prevent heavy sea erosion in areas between Chellanam and Munambam. The march that began from the High Court junction concluded near the Ernakulam Telephone Exchange office.

Admission to B.Tech. course

Candidates who have applied for admission to the management quota of B.Tech. degree course offered by the Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology should submit attested copies of mark lists of their qualifying examinations (Plus Two/CBSE/others) along with copies of marks scored in the State entrance test on or before June 10, according to a communication from the Principal.

Cusat denies report

The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has denied reports that some Syndicate members could not attend the meeting held on June 3, as the notification was issued late. According to a release, the meeting scheduled for May 20 had been postponed to June 3 following the death of the former Chief Minister, E.K.Nayanar. The June 3 meeting was intimated to the members on May 20 itself, the release said.

Diploma course

The Janey Centre for Special Education, Pishari Temple Road, Eroor, has started a diploma course in vocational training and employment. P.C. Varghese, president of the institution, said the year-long course has been recognised by the Central Government. The basic qualification required for joining the course is Plus Two. The institution offers B.Ed course in Special Education and Mental Retardation.

Elected

V.K. Varkey and K. Venkitadri have been elected as president and secretary respectively of the Stallions International (Cochin chapter).
