Arun, Manjula triumph
BANGALORE,
JUNE 7.
Arun D'Souza of South Western Railway and L. Manjula of Kolar won the men and women's races respectively in the Deccan Athletic Club's K.N. Nettakallappa memorial annual road races here on Sunday. Deccan Herald and Prajavani Group sponsored the event.
D'Souza won the men's 12.5 km race in 40 minutes and 29 seconds. In the women's event, Manjula topped with 22 minutes and 11 seconds while B.L. Bharathi came second.
K.V. Somnath of David"s AC, clocking 7:23.0, won the boys' 2.5 km race. In the girls' section, the honours went to Divya Gowda of Ujre.
The results: Men (12.5 km): 1. Arun D'Souza (SWR); 2. Balakrishna (SAI); 3. Ramesh Pujar (SAI) 40:29.0.Women (7.5 km): 1. L. Manjula (Kolar); 2. B.L. Bharathi (Tumkur); 3. Sangeetha (Dharwad) 22:11.0. Boys (2.5 km): K.V. Somnath (David's AC); 2. N. Manjunath (Youngsters); 3. T. Manjunath (Hoskote) 7:23.0. Girls (2.5 km): 1. Divya Gowda (Ujre); 2. Sanjitha B. (Presidency, RT Nagar); 3. Savitha Megur (Gadag) 8:56.0.
