Passport delay
The delay is on account of the non-receipt of PP form/report from the police department. It would be helpful if the police department also (I mean the passport verification section) rises to the occasion. P.S. Ram Narayanan, Coimbatore.
Revive shandies
This was originally launched in Andhra Pradesh, as `Rythu Bazaar' to protect farmer's income and to create marketing facilities for farmers, who are normally at the mercy of commission agents. This concept need not be given step motherly treatment. In Coimbatore like in other cities, the three farmers' shandies were quite popular and received good patronage. But suddenly, the administration withdrew deputation of staff from Agriculture and Cooperation departments and the free transport of commodities in buses was stopped, putting farmers to hardship. The Government, which rolls back a number of its own act, should take steps to revive shandies. C.M. Jeyaraam, Coimbatore.
Expedite road works
As the works are entrusted to several contractors, most of them do not complete the works properly. Even the repaired portions have begun to collapse because of lack of proper supervision. As soon as the rainy season is over it is difficult for vehicles to move, and hence the department concerned should complete the works now. The department should also reconstruct the Choladi Bridge as early as possible.
Chemmanam Mathew, The Nilgiris.
Traffic mess
In effect there is absolute chaos. To avoid this, the school can close the entrance on Trichy Road and open its back gate located on Arts College Road. This will ease the traffic flow on Trichy Road. Or the cars/autos coming for picking up the children can very well be allowed inside the school premises as is being done at the Stanes High School situated in another busy area of the city. Will action be taken by the authorities concerned? R. Ragavan, Coimbatore.
