MADIKERI, JUNE 8. The Vivus Group has taken over management of Jedi Hospital here. It will now run the 50-bed hospital, providing specialised heart care to people in rural areas of the district. S.S. Ramesh, Chief Cardiologist and Chairman of the Vivus Group, a prominent company in the healthcare sector, made the announcement here today. Addressing presspersons, Dr. Ramesh said that the services available at Vivus Hospital would be upgraded and additional facilities such as a CT scan centre and a dialysis unit would be added to the hospital within a year. He said that the Vivus Group had realised the need for specialised heart-care in the rural sector. They were committed to setting up specialised care centres in areas other than Bangalore, he said. The BGS-Vivus Heart Care Centre at Mandya was now linked to 40 rural units through the telemedicine system, where patients could contact his team directly from their villages. The same system would be established in Kodagu shortly, he said. Dr. Ramesh said specialists in other fields such as orthopaedics, diabetes and nephrology would visit Vivus Hospital regularly. Dr. Ramesh said that providing quality services at an affordable cost would be the priority of the Vivus Group. All types of medical care, except bypass surgery and brain surgery, would be performed here, he added. The Chairman of Vivus Hospital here, Lt. Gen. B.C. Nanda (retd.), said the establishment of the hospital had fulfilled the need for a first grade hospital in Kodagu district. Mr. Nanda said the hospital was also in the process of being empanelled as a centre for the treatment of ex-servicemen in the district. The hospital has two well-equipped operation theatres, a critical care unit, hitech diagnostic laboratory, radiology imaging, cardiac diagnostic services such as ECG, ultrasound, echocardiograph, colour Doppler and TMT (stress test). Dr. Janardhan, in-charge of Vivus Hospital, and Seeta Subba Rao, Associate Medical Director, Bangalore, were also present. The Vivus Group manages Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Heart Centre (BMJHC), Vivus Health Centre, Vivus Health Consult, Vivus eMedicine Centre, Vivus Mobile Solutions, Koshy Vivus Heart Centre, Cardiac Research Academy, Heart Care Foundation, Kritical Health Services, and Vivus Institute of Hospital Management.
