BANGALORE, JUNE 8. If you try it on the main roads, you may end up paying a hefty fine. But the intrepid men of the ASC Centre did it here today, breaking their own Guinness record. Thirty-four men balanced themselves on a 500 cc motorcycle, which they rode for a distance of over 500 metres. Their previous record in the Guinness Book was for a pyramid of 15 men balanced on three bikes. They also hold the national record of 30 men on one 350 cc motorcycle, documented in the Limca Book of Records. The 500 cc motorcycle was ridden by Havildar J.P. Singh who has been with the Tornadoes, as the ASC motorbike team is called, for the past 10 years. The team, drawn from the ASC fraternity, includes officers, JCOs, NCOs, sepoys and new recruits. The focus at the ASC Centre grounds was on the Royal Enfield motorcycle, which has been the backbone of the armed forces in India as a `despatch rider' vehicle. The motorcycle used for the occasion was reinforced and strengthened to take care of the tremendous stress exerted by the mass of men on it.
