New cooperative branch inaugurated
WAYANAD: The Minister for Cooperation, M. V. Raghavan, inaugurated the 16th branch of the Wayanad District Cooperative Bank at the C. K. Complex at Padinharethara here on Sunday. The MLA, K. K. Ramachandran Master, presided over the function. The Kannur District Cooperative Bank President, P. Balan Master, inaugurated the computerised networking of the bank. The Wayanad District Cooperative Bank, which has a strong agricultural presence, has also introduced new schemes such as education loans, water harvesting loans, own-a-personal computer loans and Kanakadhara gold loan cash credit. The bank is the central agency to channel crop loans to farmers at 8.5 per cent through the 27 primary agricultural cooperative banks in the district. A women development cell is also on the anvil to empower women to obtain adequate loans.
