BANGALORE, JUNE 8. The Union Ministers from the State, M.V. Rajashekaran and K.H. Muniyappa, and Ambarish, Mandya MP, apprised the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, of the situation in the Cauvery Basin districts in the State ahead of his meeting today with an all-party delegation from Tamil Nadu. Sources in the Congress told The Hindu that the two Ministers and the MP told Dr. Singh that Karnataka was not in a position to release water from the Cauvery Basin reservoirs now. Mr. Rajashekaran suggested to the Prime Minister that the Centre send a team of experts to inspect the reservoirs before taking a decision on the matter. Dr. Singh only heard the version of the two Ministers and did not make any comment. Thereafter, he held detailed discussions with experts from the Union Ministry of Water Resources. The Tamil Nadu delegation comprising MPs and Union Ministers urged Dr. Singh to implement the interim orders of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal.
