`Abused' Dalit facing death threat
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUNELVELI,
JUNE 8.
A Dalit, who was reportedly abused by a group of caste Hindus three years ago, is now facing a death threat from them as they are anxious that the victim's deposition in the court might go against them.
M. Murugan of Sivalaarkulam has filed a complaint in the Palayamkottai police station and submitted petitions to the Superintendent of Police and the Second Additional Sessions judge.
He said that a group of caste Hindus of his village harassed him and poured cow dung solution on him on August 30, 2001. When he came to the court on June 7 last for deposition in the case being tried in the Second Additional Sessions Court here, the accused allegedly threatened Mr. Murugan and other two witnesses Gowsalya and Parameswari of dire consequences.
