Arrangements for seed supply reviewed

ANANTAPUR, JUNE 8. The Managing Directors of AP Oilfed, AP Seeds Corporation and HACA reviewed the arrangements for the distribution of seed groundnut commencing in the district from June 11, at a meeting here today.

The District Collector, Y.V. Anuradha, the Joint Collector, Shashibhushan Kumar, the Joint Director of Agriculture, M. Ranga Reddy, and the local officials of Oilfed and AP Seeds participated in the first meeting.

The MD of Oilfed, Ranjeev Acharya, stated that the district had storage facility of about 1.9 lakh quintals. The three distributing agencies had already procured 1.25 lakh quintals and the remaining 3.2 lakh quintals was being procured swiftly.

Of the total quantity to be distributed in the district Oilfed will procure 1.2 lakh quintals, AP Seeds 50,000 quintals and HACA 50,000 quintals. Ms. Acharya urged the district officials to take up necessary publicity about the distribution centres.

All farmers having pattadar passbooks are eligible to get the seed supply on subsidy. The MPEOs and panchayat secretaries will certify the passbooks for claiming the seed. The staff drafted from the revenue and agriculture departments would prepare bills at the sale counters.

Ten mobile teams were formed to collect the cash from the sales counters every day and remit the amount in the bank the next day.

At another meeting held in the evening, bandobust and security at the sales counters was reviewed with the Superintendent of Police, Anil Kumar. The staff of Oilfed and AP Seeds, RDOs, and agriculture officers participated in the meeting. The MD of AP Seeds, S. Babu Rao, and the MD of HACA, Krishnamurthy, were present.
