Steps to revive hospital promised

By Our Staff Correspondent

HASSAN, JUNE 8. The new Minister, H.D. Revanna, has promised that he will take steps to rejuvenate the Government Hospital in Holenarsipur, which is facing problems, especially shortage of staff.

Mr. Revanna, who visited Holenarsipur on Monday for the first time after taking over as Cabinet Minister, paid a surprise visit to the hospital to take stock of the situation there.

Later addressing presspersons, he said he would take steps to fill vacant posts. It was farmers and landless labourers who went to government hospitals and it was the duty of the Government to provide them treatment without any discrimination, he added.

He directed the hospital authorities to sanitise the hospital surroundings immediately as patients had complained to him in this connection. After inquiring of the condition of those who were injured in lightning incidents, he directed the hospital authorities to provide them required treatment.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the failure of the authorities in stopping illegal transportation of sand from the banks of the Hemavathi, Mr. Revanna said he would not tolerate plundering of natural wealth. He directed the authorities to repair the damaged roads in Holenarsipur town.
