Man arrested, 15 motorcycles recovered

HASSAN, JUNE 8. The Hassan district police arrested a man and recovered 15 motorcycles from him on Monday.

Disclosing this to presspersons, the Superintendent of Police, Panduranga H. Rane, said Suryanayaka of Kallahalli village in Arsikere taluk was arrested when he was trying to steal a motorcycle near Satyamangala village on the outskirts of the city. He said on interrogation, Suryanayaka revealed that he had stolen 15 two-wheelers in Chikmagalur, Chikkanayakahalli, Turuvekere and Hassan. On information provided by Suryanayaka, the police raided various places and recovered the motorcycles. Mr. Rane has announced a reward for the police team.

Two dead

Two persons were killed and 15 were injured when a tractor they were travelling by overturned on the Kenkere Tank Bund in Gandsi hobli in Arsikere taluk on Monday.

The police gave the names of the dead as N.C. Rame Gowda (50) and Vasanthamma (49). The injured persons have been admitted to Chamarajendra Hospital in Hassan.
