CHITRADURGA, JUNE 8. G.H. Thippa Reddy, MLA from Chitradurga, has asked the Chitradurga City Municipal Council to take action against the authorities concerned and persons who indulged in road cutting activities in the city. Addressing a function after inaugurating the installation of sodium vapour lamp here on Monday, he took exception to the sluggish attitude of the Municipal Council to the day-to-day affairs in the town. He said roads on which work worth lakhs of rupees had been taken up were being cut for various activities and the Municipal Council had done nothing to stop it. He suggested that the Municipal Council collect money from those who cut roads and utilise it for repairing that stretch of the road. He said the Municipal Council should take action against unauthorised road cutting. "About four-and-a-half years ago, the Government sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for development works in Municipal Council limits. But the works taken up under that grant are far from satisfactory," Mr. Reddy said. D.N. Mylarappa, B.G. Nandagopal, K.S. Kumar, Lokesh, Jayanna, Krishnamurthy and Krishnappa, councillors, were present.
