HYDERABAD, JUNE 8. The Congress MLA, P.Janardhan Reddy, has reiterated his demand for reopening the Yeleru scam case to fix responsibility on the guilty. In a chat with reporters here on Tuesday, Mr.Reddy said the misdemeanours of the erstwhile TDP regime must not be ignored. All the scams that had surfaced in the past like the stamp scam, scholarship scandal and the irregular land deals of the TDP Government, which benefited multinationals at the cost of the State exchequer, must be probed, he demanded. The Yeleru scam probe by the Somasekhara had almost concluded and the Government had incurred an expenditure of about Rs.80 lakhs on the probe. There was no reason why it should not be taken to its logical end, he said. Mr.Janardhan Reddy urged the Government to speedily implement all its election promises and establish itself firmly as a `people-friendly' Government without giving anyone scope for criticising it on this count. The condition of farmers, artisans and industrial workers must be improved and the irreparable damage done to the rural economy must be set right, he said. Accusing the TDP of ruining the State's industrial infrastructure in its nine-year-long rule, he said the sick industries must be revived at the earliest. The comeback of the Congress to power had rekindled the hopes of the poor that their future would be secure, he said, adding that the party would live up to their expectations.
