Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, JUNE 8. The former chairman of the Guntur Cooperative Urban Bank, Kommineni Seethaiah, was arrested here on Tuesday on charges of misappropriation of bank funds to the tune of Rs. 4 lakhs. The district police after registering a case produced Seethaiah before the vacation court and the judge remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days. Mr. Seethaiah had allegedly taken a loan of Rs. 4 lakhs two years ago in the name of an attender, Tangendla, working in the same bank. The re-payment notices were served on Tangendla, which he refused to honour. Seethaiah allegedly threatened to remove him from service, but Tandendla did not budge. A fortnight ago Tangendla complained to the Superintendent of Police, Ravi Shankar Ayyannar, during the `Dial-your-SP' programme. The police inquired into the incident and Seethaiah repaid the amount a few days ago.
