MLA undergoes brain-mapping test

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JUNE 8. The AIADMK MLA from Kangaiyam in Erode district of Tamil Nadu, Selvi Murugesan, her husband, Murugesan, and the Erode district AIADMK General Secretary, Govindarajan, underwent the brain-mapping test here today.

The three are accused in the kidnap and murder of Sivakumar, son-in-law of the Murugesans, whose body was found in a field in Attibele police station limits in Bangalore Rural district on April 18.

He had been kidnapped from Koramangala police station limits here on April 17.

While the brain-mapping test — a study of brain-wave responses to questions or other stimuli — conducted on the MLA lasted about two and a half hours, while the tests on the other two lasted two hours each, Nagaraj, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madivala sub-division, said.

The Assistant Director of the Forensic Science Laboraty (FSL) and an expert on scientific investigation techniques, S. Malini, conducted the tests.

Ms. Murugesan had failed to appear before Mr. Nagaraj on Monday citing viral fever as the reason.

The other two appeared before him for the test but they could not be subjected to it, as the FSL experts were busy. Mr. Nagaraj said the police would apply for permission to conduct the narco-analysis test (NAT).
