NALGONDA, JUNE 8. The State unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, N. Indrasena Reddy, has charged the Congress Government with a lack of clarity on the issue of separate statehood for the Telangana region. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said: "The Congress has not come out with a clear statement on the issue. Also, there was no categorical statement about Telangana in the presidential address. The Congress is in the habit of acting contrary to what it preaches." The BJP chief lashed out at the Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy Government for "failing to evolve an agricultural plan" for the Kharif season. "Farmers are suffering because seed has not been supplied. The Government should do something for them," he said. Later, Mr. Indrasena Reddy, the former Union Minister, Krishnamraju, and other leaders participated in a review meeting where they discussed the electoral debacle of the TDP-BJP combine in the State. Mr. Krishnamraju told reporters that a lack of coordination between the BJP and the TDP cadres, and the anti-incumbency wave had led to the defeat of the combine. "We have been telling the cadres to forget the defeat and to make efforts to rejuvenate the party," he said. To a question on the post-poll relations of the two parties, he said it was up to the BJP's central committee to take a decision on the issue. The actor-turned-politician said Balakrishna, the main accused in the sensational attempt-to-murder case, was a "nice man and did not harm anybody." He refused to make personal comments on the episode.
