MANGALORE, JUNE 8. The Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Mangalore has conferred an award of excellence on the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) for implementing Hindi as the official language in administrative work at the port during 2003-04. NMPT has won the award for the 10th time in a row and 12 times in all, a release said. B. Prakash Pai, the Hindi officer of NMPT, received the award on behalf of the management from the Chairman of Mangalore TOLIC and Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, K. Cherian Varghese, at the 36th meeting of the committee held here recently. The release added that the port had also been awarded a certificate of merit by the Union Ministry of Shipping for its work in the field of official language implementation in previous years.
