COIMBATORE, JUNE 8. The district administration has disbursed the second instalment of compensation for those who sustained injuries and damages to property in a recent group clash between two communities at Kalapatti on the outskirts of Coimbatore city last month. In a release issued here, the Collector, S. Kosalaraman, said that an interim relief was provided to the victims on May 18. As many as 74 persons were given Rs. 2.42 lakhs awaiting completion of investigation by the police for the cases registered under the Prevention of Atrocities on SC/ST Act. Based on the police investigation report, a second instalment of compensation of Rs. 7.02 lakhs was provided to 96 more persons in the last week of May.
