BANGALORE, JUNE 8. The city police arrested 10 persons, belonging to two separate groups, who were allegedly planning to commit dacoities and seized two cars and weapons from them. According to the police, one group was planning to strike at a house in an isolated area of A.P. Layout in Subramanyapur police limits while the other wanted to target a house at Punjab National Bank (PNB) Layout in the early hours of today. Police arrested Girish (29), Mahendra Singh (28), Bhaskar (18), Raghu (19) and Vijaya Simha (18), near Maramma Temple, Katriguppa, and recovered a Santro car, two choppers, and three clubs from them. The group was allegedly planning to strike at a house in A.P. Layout. The members of the other group, which reportedly wanted to target a house at PNB Layout, have been identified as Ramu (34), Suresh (38), Kumar (24), Shanavaz and Harish (both 18). A Maruti Esteem car, clubs and a couple of choppers were recovered from them.
Trader ends life
A businessman allegedly committed suicide in his house in Munjunathangar in Basaveshwarnagar police limits on Tuesday. Police said that Vijayan, a dealer in groundnut oil, allegedly consumed poison by mixing it with liquor when he was alone at home. The suicide came to notice, when his brother, who was staying with him, returned from Kerala. The reason for the suicide was not known, police said.
Chain snatched
An unidentified man allegedly snatched a gold chain, valued at Rs. 20,000, from Chowdeshwari while she was standing at 1st Cross, Ring Road at Banagirinagar in Banashankari police limits on Monday. The police said she was looking for tutorials for her daughter.
