MADURAI, JUNE 8. The All India Moovendar Munnani Kazhagam founder leader, N. Sethuraman, has welcomed the United Progressive Alliance's decision to include the issue of declaring Tamil a classical language in its common minimum programme, and said it was a victory for Tamils. In a statement here, he said Tamil, along with Sanskrit, was an ancient and rich language. He thanked the Democratic Progressive Alliance leaders, M. Karunanidhi, S. Ramadoss and Vaiko, for their efforts. The Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers' Forum president, Melanmai Ponnusamy, and the general secretary, R. Kathiresan, have also hailed the decision.
