Maps of metros recovered from slain militants

By Luv Puri

JAMMU, JUNE 9 . Metropolitan cities in the country continue to be on the target lists of militants in Jammu and Kashmir. Documents recovered from three Hizbul Mujahideen militants, who were killed at the Lasana area of Poonch district, have made alarming disclosures.

According to the authorities, maps of the four metropolitan cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai have been recovered from the self-styled commander Talah Afaque, a resident of Muzzafarabad, the capital of Pakistan- occupied Kashmir.

The maps "contain complete information about the location of all vital installations besides temples and other religious places." Distance-wise locations of all important places were mentioned in the maps, they added.

A diary recovered from another slain militant, Aslam Khan, a Pakistani national, revealed their links in different parts of the country. Some Jammu-based contacts were mentioned in the diary along with mobile phone numbers from other parts of the country. The Army said it was decoding the messages. Brigadier N. S. Malik of the Romeo Force said that all the three militants were looking for an opportunity for a big strike.
