PONDICHERRY, JUNE 9. A five-member Child Welfare Committee has been constituted in line with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 (a central legislation) for the Union Territory of Pondicherry. A press release from the Social Welfare department here said today that M. K. Sayeekumari would be the chairperson. The other members were Nalini (a paediatrician), C. Dakshinamoorthy (Karaikal), Malini Ravichandran and former MLA, E. Rajalingam. A juvenile justice board had also been constituted and the judicial magistrate II of Pondicherry would be its chairman. The members of the board are R. Sulochana, a retired professor, and K. Irisappan, a retired teacher from Bahoor.
