WARSAW, JUNE 9. A munitions dump explosion in Iraq that killed six soldiers from Poland, Slovakia and Latvia was caused by mortar fire, military investigators said on Wednesday. One Latvian, three Slovakian and two Polish sappers died on Tuesday while defusing Saddam-era ordinance near Suwariyah, 56 km southeast of Baghdad. ``The deaths did not result from any inappropriate action during the defusing, but it was the result of a mortar attack,'' said Polish Gen. Piotr Czerwinski, announcing the findings of an investigation at the multinational force's headquarters in Iraq. AP Reuters reports from Fallujah: Rebels killed 12 members of an Iraqi security force in a mortar attack in Fallujah today, the force said. It was the first time guerillas have attacked General Mohammed Latif's Fallujah Brigade since it set out to pacify Iraq's most rebellious town west of Baghdad last month following fierce fighting between U.S. troops and insurgents.
