Rs.48 cr sanctioned for Veligallu project

CUDDAPAH, JUNE 9. The Government has sanctioned Rs. 48 crores for the Veligallu project, the lifeline of Lakkireddipalle.

This was disclosed by the Lakkireddipalle constituency MLA, G. Mohan Reddy. The Congress MLA distributed fodder in Surabhi Payalopalle village in Chakrayapet mandal today and flagged off 50 lorry loads of fodder meant for distribution in the constituency. The fodder would be disbursed at Rs. 270 a tonne, he said and assured to ensure that there was no shortage of fodder. He urged the people of the constituency, particularly farmers, to apprise him of their problems and assured steps to resolve them.

Speaking to newsmen later, Mr. Reddy asserted that the Rajasekhara Reddy Government was according priority to irrigation projects and added that the Veligallu project would be completed expeditiously. The constituency was expecting sanction of 50 distribution transformers to tide over the power supply problems, he said.

He demanded declaration of Ramapuram and Chintakommadinne mandals as drought-affected. Efforts were on to develop the Veeranjaneya temple at Gandi into a tourist centre and the issue was taken up with the Minister for Tourism, J. Geetha Reddy. He assured measures to mitigate the drinking water scarcity and resolve power supply problems in the constituency. Roads would be laid to link the villages to the main roads and repairs to Kaletivagu was being taken up, Mr. Mohan Reddy said. Proposals were forwarded for construction of causeways at Kuppam, Surabhi and Reddivaripalle villages.

The Chakrayapet ZPTC member, Radhakrishnaiah, Nerusupalle sarpanch, Subbaramaiah and Animal Husbandry officials, Vengala Reddy, Konda Reddy, Sridhar Reddy and Venkatesu, were also present.
