Letters to the Editor
Sir, The nation is watching in bewilderment the conduct and the behaviour of the Bharatiya Janata Party on the issue of `tainted' Ministers in the UPA Government. The NDA, especially the BJP, too had chargesheeted persons at the helm of affairs and defended them tooth and nail when in power.
Javed Iqbal,
Sir, The uproar in Parliament over the `tainted' Ministers issue is much ado about nothing. The BJP is only trying to tarnish the image of the new Government. It is time the party leadership adopted a positive approach as a constructive Opposition party. Such an attitude will go a long way in restoring the image of the BJP.
S. Murali,
Sir, The proceedings in Parliament are being stalled by shouting and counter-shouting. While the NDA says the protest will continue till the `tainted' Ministers are dropped, the ruling coalition has stated that the BJP has no right to demand the ouster of the Ministers. However, for the Congress to say `there were such Ministers in the previous government and so we will also have them' is unethical. After all, it came to power saying it will provide clean governance.
N. Krishnaswamy,
Sir, The cartoon on page one, showing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh playing cricket with fielders in such close-in positions (June 9) is perfect. But the field should have included players from among the Congress' alliance partners and `supporters' from outside, though in real life cricket, the batsman and fielders do not belong to the same side!
K.S. Viswanathan,
