Senior citizens

Sir, — It is unfortunate that the Government is adopting double standards for determining the age of those who should be considered senior citizens.

While the Railways has fixed the age-limit at 60 for travel concession, the Finance Ministry has pegged it at 65 for IT concession. The Government should lower the age-limit of senior citizens from 65 to 60 for IT exemption too.

S. Srivatsa,
Chennai
