NEW DELHI: Tourism Malaysia India, the nodal agency which promotes Malaysia as a tourist destination, has announced a surge of 12 per cent arrivals to Malaysia from India during the first quarter of 2004 as against the same period last year. The number of tourists between January and March was 42,739 against 38,199 tourists during last year. Addressing a press conference here, Roslan Abdullah, Director, Tourism Malaysia India, said barring global uncertainties Indian arrivals to Malaysia were expected to be on the upswing with the possibility of 25 per cent growth in the arrivals. India remained on the list of top 10 markets that contributed to the tourist arrivals in Malaysia during January to March this year. Encouraged by the response from India, Tourism Malaysia and Myanmar Airways have extended their joint 6 days/5 nights package from Delhi to Kuala Lumpur and Yangon till September 30. The package was launched a month ago and proved to be a popular pick of the Indian tourists, said Manish Rastogi of Myanmar Airways. The package includes, air-fare and two nights stay at Kuala Lumpur, two at Genting Highlands and one night at Yangon. He said that Myanmar Airways was planning to add Hong Kong to its destination from October. Our Special Correspondent
