Salem Steel makes profit

CHENNAI, JUNE 9. SAIL's Salem Steel Plant has made good strides during 2003-04 by registering Rs. 130 crores rise in turnover to Rs. 557 crores as compared to the previous year. The net profit was Rs. 2 crores against a loss of Rs. 119 crores. A part of the income came from conversion orders valued at Rs. 96 crores. The gross margin stood at Rs. 81.70 crores, according to a company release.
