Review report on effects of Endosulfan: MP

By Our Special Correspondent

KOZHIKODE JUNE 9. M.P. Veerendrakumar, MP, has sought a review by the Central Government of the report of the O.P. Dubey committee that had inquired into complaints about the pesticide Endosulfan being the cause of congenital deformities among people in some parts of Kasaragod district.

Mr. Veerendrakumar, leader of the Janata Dal(S) in the Lok Sabha, has submitted a representation to the Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Ram Vilas Paswan, making this demand.Mr. Veerendrakumar has alleged that the findings of the Dubey committee were not based on facts. The report, he said, was based on tests conducted in a private laboratory, Frederic Institute of Plant Protection and Toxicology, in Tamil Nadu.

He alleged that the tests actually provided evidence showing the presence of Endosulfan in human blood, but this evidence was suppressed.
