BANGALORE, JUNE 9. A goods train derailment near Malur at 2.48 a.m. on Wednesday led to partial cancellation of some trains, termination of some, and cancellation of others on the Bangalore-Chennai sector. The trains terminated were the 2657 Chennai-Bangalore Mail, 6222 Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore Cauvery Express, 214 Tirupati-Bangalore-Mysore Fast Passenger and 6731 Tuticorin-Bangalore Express. The trains partially cancelled were the 6222/6221 Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore Cauvery Express, 214/213 Tirupati-Bangalore-Mysore Fast Passengers between Bangalore and Mysore, 2007/2008 Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore Shatabdi Express between Bangalore and Mysore, 102 Bangalore-Chennai Passenger between Bangalore and Jolarpettai, 513 Bangalore-Marikuppam Passenger between Bangalore and Bangarpet, 530/529 Bangalore-Malur-Bangalore Passenger trains will run between Bangalore and Whitefield only. The trains fully cancelled were the 6024/6023 Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore Express, 526 Bangalore-Marikuppam Passenger, 527/523 Bangarpet-Marikuppam-Bangalore Passenger, 511/512 Bangarpet-Marikuppam-Bangalore Passengers and the 6519 Jolarpettai-Bangalore Express. The trains diverted were the 2608 Bangalore-Chennai Lalbagh Express run via Dharmapuri, Omalur, Thoppur and Jolarpettai and the 8003 Howrah-Yeswanthpur Express via Thoppur, Omalur and Dharmapuri. The 8004 Yeswanthpur-Howrah Express scheduled to leave Yeswanthpur at 3.45 p.m. has been re-scheduled to leave at 10 p.m. because of late running of its pairing train. Vijay Agarwal, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Bangalore Division, and other officers and staff were at the derailment spot to supervise the restoration work. The Bangalore Division of South Western Railway arranged 50 buses for the passengers to be brought from Bangarpet where four trains were terminated. The aged and handicapped passengers were also provided help at Bangarpet. Later, more buses were arranged to bring other passengers to the city. The Railways also made catering arrangements at Bangarpet for the stranded passengers.
Restored
One track was restored by noon and the other track was restored by the evening, according to South-Western Railway.
