KOZHIKODE, JUNE 9. The University of Calicut has announced a degree course in multi-media communication and a diploma programme in eco- tourism from this academic year. The University academic advisory board today gave its formal approval for the two courses at its meeting. Colleges interested in conducting the degree programme in multi-media have been advised to get in touch with the university authorities for more details. The three-year Bachelor of Multimedia Communication (BMMC) degree programme is designed to introduce students to multimedia systems, tools and technologies and their application in creating multimedia products. It will be in the regular stream. The minimum qualification for admission to the BMMC course would be a pass in Pre-Degree/Plus-Two examination with at least 45 per cent marks. It is structured to provide a sound grounding in theoretical and practical areas of multi-media. The emphasis will be on teaching skills required to work with various media using appropriate software and integrating them into multimedia products. The one-year diploma course in eco-tourism is both in regular and distant education streams.
