NEW DELHI, JUNE 9. Senior Congress leader N. Janardhana Reddy, on Wednesday asserted that he was not interested in any post and would like to put a "full stop'' to all speculation. Mr. Reddy, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam, said he wanted to serve the constituency and was not the one "to hanker after posts.'' The senior Congress leader's assertion came in response to questions at a press conference here referring to speculation of a possible office for him. Mr. Reddy said he had urged the Centre to revive the public sector Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels, a company that had been earning profits for the last three decades. He said even the Common Minimum Programme adopted by the United Progressive Alliance had a promise on public sector undertakings and the BHPV was incurring losses only on account of the policies of the previous Vajpayee Government. In a memorandum submitted to the Heavy Industry Minister, Santosh Mohan Deb, the BHPV employees union said in the last four years the NDA Government had made no efforts to save the company. Mr. Reddy said the BHPV had orders worth Rs. 250 crores but it required a working capital of Rs. 100 crores to execute them. The Minister assured that he would consider the issue and help the BHPV. In addition, the Visakhapatnam MP said he had requested the Union Steel Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, to visit the Steel Plant in the city. He said even though the plant was envisaged to have a capacity of 10 million tonnes, it was not expanded beyond 3 million tonnes. He said the Minister had promised to visit the plant on June 16.
