Alappuzha
ALAPPUZHA, JUNE 9. One person was killed and two others were injured when an old building collapsed in the rain near Alappuzha Boat Jetty at around 1-30 p.m. today. The Alappuzha north police said the deceased was identified as Simon (40), Valiyaveedu, Poonkavu. Simon was working in a bakery. The injured are Pappachan (35), a resident of Chathanad municipal colony, and Suresh (29), Kakkariyil House, Arthumkal. The injured were admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. Eyewitnesses said the beam of the building fell on Simon. Though the Fire Force which arrived on the scene took Simon to the hospital, he could not be saved.
