GULBARGA, JUNE 9. The Small-scale Industries Owners Association (SSIOA) has urged the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, to intervene and save small-scale industries (SSI) and tiny industries, which are in a crisis. They have asked for help from financial agencies to revive sick units on priority. In a memorandum faxed to the Union Finance Minister, the President of the SSIOA, Bhimashankar Patil, has asked the Union Government to earmark special funds in the budget for the revival of the tiny and SSI units and also introduce SSI-friendly policies. Mr. Patil said that the survival of the tiny and SSI units were important for the development of the country. The memorandum alleged that the present policies of the financial agencies were directed towards helping only the major and medium industries.
