Hariharan hits century as WCA triumphs

UDHAGAMANDALAM, JUNE 9. V. Hariharan scored 108 and Ganeshmoorthy chipped in an unbeaten 63 to steer Wellington Cricket Association (WCA) to a four-wicket win over First Computers Cricket Club in the final of the Murali Babu Rolling Trophy tournament in the Indian Bank-Nilgiris District Cricket Association `B' division league here.

First Computers did reasonably with the bat, with M. Senthil Kumar (93 not out) and Dinesh Kumar (92) playing a stellar role, to end up at 258 for three in 40 overs.

However, their efforts went in vain as Hariharan and Ganeshmoorthy combined well to achieve the target in 36.5 overs. Wellington scored 260 but lost six wickets in the progress out of which K. Devakumaran picked three for 49.

In the `A' division league for the M.A. Chidambaram Rolling Trophy, Yankees Cricket Club defeated Youngstars Cricket Club by 128 runs, while Pacers Cricket Club scored a four-wicket win over Wonder XI Cricket Club.

C. Umesh Kumar hit a patient 76 for Pacers, while V. Dharmvir Singh slammed a quick 62 for Wonder XI CC.

In the `C' division first tournament final for the NDCA Rolling Trophy, Yellanhalli XI Cricket Club beat Galaxy Cricket Club. Batting first, Galaxy compiled 148 and in reply Yellanhalli XI managed 90 for eight in 17.4 overs before rain cried halt to the proceedings. Yellanhalli emerged the winner on a better run-rate.

Brief scores: A Division: Yankees CC 248 for nine in 40 overs (N. Chandrasekhar 50, M. Ajith Kumar 42, P. Jayandhan three for 43) bt Youngstars CC 120.

Wonder XI CC 171 (V. Dharmvir Singh 62, A. Sasi 29) lost to Pacers CC 172 for six in 35.1 overs (C. Umesh Kumar 76, Sabarish 33).

B Division: First Computers CC 258 for three in 40 overs (M. Senthil 93 not out, B. Dinesh Kumar 92) lost to Wellington CA 260 for six in 36.5 overs (V. Hariharan 108, V. Ganeshmoorthy 63 not out, Ashik Sherif 39, K. Devakumaran three for 49).

C Division: Galaxy CC 148 (C. Jagadeesh Babu 32, D. Manjunath 25, J. Ramkumar four for 21) lost to Yellanhalli XI CC 90 for eight in 17.4 overs (Basheer Ahamed three for 15) Result decided on run-rate.
