AOC Centre drubs SBI
HYDERABAD,
JUNE 9.
AOC Centre drubbed State Bank of India 6-3 in the A-1 Division hockey league championship match at the Begumpet Police Stadium here on Wednesday. The winner led 4-0 at the break.
Armymen shot into lead in the sixth minute when P. Mondal was on target with a field goal. Within 10 minutes, M.A. Hameed made it 2-0. Before the break, J. Topno and Satyanarayana struck once each.
In the second session, AOC increased the lead through Satyanarayana once again. Though SBI reduced the margin with Sanjay Kumar converting two penalty-corners in quick succession in the 40th and 46th minutes.
AOC put the issue beyond doubt with a field goal through Ramaswamy. Centre-forward Harinath Reddy scored one for the bankmen in the dying minutes.
