Not informed about the Relay: Padukone
NEW DELHI,
JUNE 9.
Former All England badminton champion Prakash Padukone lashed out at the participation of models and film stars ahead of many legendary sportspersons during the Olympic Torch Relay to be held here on June 10.
"I am surprised that so many models and film stars will be taking part in the Relay. This is possible only in India," Padukone told NDTV from Bangalore.
The former world champion said he was not informed about the Relay and added that he was really surprised that prominent sports personalities were ignored and models and film stars were considered.
As many as 105 people will carry the Olympic Torch in the 33-km run from Qutub Minar to the National Stadium.
Three-time Olympian Padukone was not considered and even P. T. Usha, who won five gold medals in the Asian Games, was included only at the last minute. UNI
