COIMBATORE, JUNE 9 . The Coimbatore MP, K. Subbarayon, has called for a special Government order for unconditional regularisation of unapproved layouts. In a letter to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, Mr. Subbarayon has said that such an approval was needed soon to remove the plight of the people in these layouts, as they reeled under lack of basic amenities. He said that both in Coimbatore city and in a developing town such as Tirupur, unapproved layouts spawned owing to constant inflow of migrant labour force. The people could not be blamed for the rise in the number of such layouts as they purchased whatever little pieces of land they could afford to build houses. While arguing their case, the letter, however, said that after granting approval for the layouts formed so far, the Government could effectively stop any further rise in their number by making suitable amendments to the rules. As for the regularisation scheme that was introduced by the Government more than a year ago, the MP appealed to the Chief Minister to ensure that a heavy financial burden was not placed on the people in the form of high charges or penalty to regularise unauthorised structures.
