BHOPAL, JUNE 9. The Madhya Pradesh Minister for Higher Education, Chaudhary Chandra Bhan Singh, today emphasised the need to encourage research in Sanskrit and Hindi. Mr. Singh made this assertion while addressing the Executive Committee meeting of the Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy here. The Minister, who is also the Chairman of the Academy, said that a special working plan should be made for offering scholarships to encourage research in Sanskrit and Hindi. Mr. Singh said that the Hindi Granth Academy, which was set up in the 70s under a special Government scheme to publish text books for collegiate education in Hindi, should honour at least five authors for excellence every year on Teachers' Day. The Minister further said on this occasion that special initiative should be taken by the Academy to publish books on Ayurveda and herbal medicines. He also laid special emphasis on the need to improve the Academy's financial condition and said that steps should be taken on priority to overhaul and streamline its marketing set up.
