BANGALORE, JUNE 9. The results of the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional colleges will be announced on Thursday at 2 p.m., a week ahead of schedule, in all the 208 CET test centres across the State. The declaration of results was earlier scheduled for June 17. Candidates could also access the results on the CET website (http://kar.nic.in/cet) or the two sites of Educhoice (www.educhoicekarnataka.com) and (www.educhoice.org) . Besides, students could call BSNL number 1255225 while those with Spice Telecom's mobile connection could SMS "CET registration number" to 555 to get the results. As many as 1.12 lakh students had taken the CET in 208 examination centres. The test was conducted across the State between May 18 and 22. As per the merit determined by the CET Cell, eligible candidates will be assigned medical, engineering, and architecture ranks. Separate result sheets showing the medical, engineering, and architecture ranks for Karnataka quota candidates and medical and engineering ranks for non-Karnataka quota candidates will be published. The key answers and list of Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates whose results are withheld will also be published along with reasons for withholding the results. However, result sheets will not be displayed at the CET Cell premises. According to the CET schedule, the admission round seat selection process for Karnataka candidates is set to begin on June 24 with the medical examination for special category candidates. The rank-wise seat selection process will commence on July 2 for medical, dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, and Naturopathy and Yoga courses, and on July 19 for engineering and technology courses. The seat selection for architecture courses will begin on August 18.
COMED-K decision
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) held a marathon meeting here on Wednesday to discuss various issues, including seat-sharing ratio, fee structure, and centralised counselling. The consortium will announce its decision on these issues on Thursday, according to its chairman, R.L. Jalappa. With the State Government deciding on a 75:25 seat-sharing ratio, it was widely felt among COMED-K members that the consortium should appeal to the Venkataraman Committee overseeing professional college admissions and thereafter approach the Supreme Court, if necessary. The State Government had decided to approach the apex court seeking a review of its 2003 order, which had suggested a 50:50 formula.
