Parliament adjourned again

NEW DELHI,
JUNE 9.
Parliament was adjourned for the second consecutive day today over the ``tainted'' Ministers issue with the Opposition in no mood to relent. While the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till afternoon within minutes in the morning, the Lok Sabha followed suit an hour later after electing Charanjit Singh Atwal the Deputy Speaker.
In the post-lunch session, both Houses were again adjourned within minutes without transacting any business except the tabling of the Defence Minister's statement on an in-house report on the Kargil war in the Rajya Sabha. The Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, had tabled the statement in the Lok Sabha in the pre-lunch session after the Opposition interrupted his bid to read it out.
Hardly had the Rajya Sabha Chairman, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, completed the business of laying papers in the morning, the Opposition members were on their feet demanding the resignation of the charge-sheeted Ministers. They were countered by vociferous ruling party members who chanted, ``we want discussion.'' As both sides appeared unrelenting, the Chairman adjourned the House
